Detained billionaire Jean Pierre Amougou Belinga is reportedly facing two additional charges of tax fraud and money laundering, aside the accusations of his involvement in the murder of journalist Martinez Zogo.
Mimi Mefo Info Français, has reported that the owner of l’Anecdote Media Group is facing additional charges from the Special Criminal Court and from the National Gendarmerie.
On Monday, February 27 other Newspapers like Le Kalara reported about “the opening of an investigation at the gendarmerie, about the relief of the tax debt of Vision 4, from 11 to 1.9 billion FCFA; of a transaction of 8 billion between the Minister of Finance and the businessman for the controversial compensation of a forestry company belonging to Jean Pierre Amougou Belinga; and another investigation opened against the latter at the Criminal Court special for money laundering.”
No official information has been released concerning these reported charges.
For the past three weeks, Amougou Belinga and several other suspects are being grilled by the State Secretariat of Defence and the Yaounde Military Court for their alleged involvement in Zogo’s murder.
He was arrested on February 6 by gendarmes and has since then been shuffling between SED and the military court.
Radio host Martinez Zogo was brutally murdered at a time he was investigating embezzlement allegations by the Belinga, who owns Vision 4 television and a string of other businesses.
