A detainee arrested in connection with the ongoing armed conflict in the Anglophone regions has died while in detention at the Yaoundé Kondengui Central prison.
The detainee whose name we got Ambe Louis, died under unclear circonstances.
The Tragedy took place April 16.
According to sources, the inmate began vomiting blood on the night of April 15.
After being rushed to the infirmary of the central prison, his case began aggravating as there was no doctor to either take care of him or order his transfer to another hospital.
The victim finally succumbed to death on April 16 around 4 am in the morning.
It is reported that Ambe Louis suffered eye problems alongside constant lung pains.
He had been in pre-trial detention at the central prison since 2017.
He was arrested in Muyuka in the South West Region of Cameroon.
After two months of illegal detention at the Gendarmerie, the deceased was transferred to Kondengui central prison where he died without being judged.
This is however not the first time an inmate of the Anglophone crisis dies while in custody.
Human rights associations recall that depriving a detainee of the right to health is an attack on human dignity and as well on the right to life.
