Anglophone Crisis: German Scholar Says Doom Looms In Cameroon If Conflict Exceeds Biya Regime

A German scholar has noted that the International Community is yet to think about a possible deterioration of the conflict rocking the two Anglophone regions of Cameroon, after a post-Biya era.

Taking to Twitter yesterday, Alexander Clarkson reacted to the killing of a sacred masquerade member in Buea, leaving another injured.

While tagging a video from Bamenda, showing elements of Cameroon’s armed forces, ordering a civilian “Enter for here”, with another lying on the ground, face-up, he wondered if the U.S., EU, UK, Germany, and France have thought of what to be done, to remedy a worsening atmosphere, after President Paul Biya leaves the picture.

The Canadian-born has observed that the occurrence of atrocious acts, killing, kidnappings, rape, and other dehumanizing actions will be experienced a thousandfold if the external actors mentioned above do less to resolve the crisis before Biya’s departure.

“You have to wonder whether any external actors including EU, France, Germany and UK really have thought through what might need to be done to avoid a worsening of all this when Biya leaves the scene,” he tweeted.
