Some key political actors who double as members of parliament in the Northwest region have advised that there is an urgent need to implement the reconstruction plan in the crisis-hit region to address the development vacuum that resulted in the current arm conflict in the region.
They made the statement in Bamenda September 21 while proposing that the reconstruction should start in areas less affected by the prevailing insecurity.
According to Hon Wallang Richard, president of the follow up committee of government sponsored projects in the region, long standing promises to rebuild major road infrastructure in the region must effectively take off in divisions with less insecurity concerns.
“We should not be talking so much of theory. The Bamenda-Babadjou road, everybody wants to see it realized. If the ring road is a reality, these boys want development too. The tension will relax,” he said.
National Assembly Questor, Hon Njigum Musa says insecurity can’t be barrier for the development works in the region.
“In countries where there are major wars, there is development going on. I don’t think development should stop because of the crisis, ” said Hon. Musa.
The presidential plan to reconstruct the crisis hit Northwest and Southwest regions of Cameroon was launched two years ago, yet denizens are still to see its effective transcription on the ground.
