Anglophone crisis ruining culture, self-reliant development initiatives in North-West

One thing that has continued to disappear as the Anglophone crisis drags on has remained the celebration of culture in the North-West region.

Annual cultural festivals which were previously organized by almost all tribes in the North-West region have disappeared with the crisis.

The Ngonso Festival in Nso, The Lela Festival of Bali, and the Homecoming of NjongsiKom of Kom have remained in the shadows.

Tribes in the region used to see their sons and daughters travel back home during the end of the year to participate in animative cultural festivals characterized by various cultural dance displays, gun firing, and dress competitions among others.

For years now, the fate of festivals and self-reliant development associations like NACDA, NADA, MUMUDA, WICUDA MACUDA, MADU among others remain uncertain.

Hundreds of millions raised during these annual cultural festivals and development come-togethers in the past used to fund water projects, road rehabilitation, and the provision of certain infrastructures, electricity, among other amenities back in the various villages without depending only on the State.

The Anglophone crisis has resulted in the current insecurity, making many sons and daughters from the North West region, home and abroad, unable to return home as in the past during the end of the year. This has completely halted the transition of culture from the old to the young as there is no common platform bringing the two together.
