A driver whose name MMI got as Ntemgwah Elvis has been shot death with his vehicle set ablaze in M’mouck-Fossimondi, Lebialem Division in Cameroon’s South West Region.
Armed Separatists, fighting for an independent state called ‘Ambazonia’ since 2016 — are reported to have perpetrated the act which occured on Saturday February 25, 2023.
The deceased driver reportedly left the Nkongle Market and was heading to Mbah-M’mouck for a funeral ceremony when his vehicle came under attack.
Three others with whom he was in the vehicle escaped while he died on the spot of gunshots wounds.
“He was shot death by Separatists fighters in M’muock-Fossimondi village in Lebialem……the Hilux vehicle he was driving was set at blaze just about 40 meters away from the M’muock-Fossimondi town,” explained a source from the area.
The source continued that: “He was not alone in the vehicle. There were four people who all managed to escape when the met the boys. However the driver went back to where the vehicle was and the only thing we heard were gunshots and then, Elvis was no more.”
The armed men are said to have stormed a funeral ceremony where they shot one woman, destroyed all brasseries drinks and kidnapped two other persons.
“Separatist fighters also storm the funeral place and destroyed all the brasseries drinks, set another vehicle blaze, kidnapped two people who are children of the same father,” our source said.
“A woman was hit but bullet and she is now receiving treatment in hospital,” he added.
The corpse of the driver was at the Mbah-M’mouck junction for several hours.
