Two persons have been killed including a driver plying the Bamenda-Awing road in Cameroon’s North West Region.
The driver, popularly known as Sarah and the second victim were killed in Awing early Thursday morning on their way to Bamenda.
“It is not clear who the killers are, but they were armed,” revealed a source.
A Hilux car was also set ablaze by the armed men.
Two other drivers were abducted and taken to an unknown destination, MMI has gathered.
Government soldiers blamed
Locals say the attack was committed by soldiers loyal to the government of Camerooon.
There has been no reaction from administrative authorities on the killings.
It is not known why the two men whom MMI could not readily get their names were killed.
However , the act is likely not unconnected to government’s military campaign in the restive North West and South west regions.
Commentators say killing of civilians has become recurrent in the two English speaking regions of Cameroon where government forces are waging a war against armed separatists who want to create a breakaway from Cameroon they call ‘Ambazonia’.
This is a developing story!
