Liberal Alliance Party Unveiled Ateki Caxton Seta as Presidential Candidate on Saturday, July 12, 2025, in Yaounde, centre region of Cameroon.

MMI can confirm that Ateki Caxton Seta, vice president of the Liberal Alliance Party, is set to become the party’s flag bearer in this year’s presidential election.
The party is currently holding its congress in Yaoundé, where it has laid a manifesto aimed at winning the presidential race.

Ateki Caxton Seta, 39, is also the founder of NewSeta, which has empowered thousands of youths politically. Talking earlier, Mr Ateki Caxton said the party is already determined to contest and win the election.

Despite being the presidential candidate, Congress is being chaired by the party’s president and founder, HRM Celestine Bedzigui. The Liberal Alliance Party, founded in 1991, had in the past formed a coalition with SDF and UNDP of Bello Bouba Maigari.

Political programme

The party says it plans to resolve the Anglophone crisis through political channels and negotiation and leave the CFA Franc and give Cameroon its own currency and exit the IMF and reduce youth unemployment.

To them, the civil and electoral majority is 17 years for both boys and girls. One of their plans is to create a single national army by merging the army, the BIR and the presidential guard. They said they will also reduce the number of ministers to 30. On Friday, July 11, President Paul Biya decreed October 12 as the date for the polls.

The Liberal Alliance Party will be the latest to produce a candidate. Several persons ahead of the polls have shown interest in contesting for the highest office in the country.
Now that the electorate has been convened, aspiring candidates will begin submitting their files to the Election Management Body for scrutiny.

Invited political parties

Attending the Congress of the Liberal Alliance Party are some opposition parties, including UDC, UNDP, PCRN, UMS and UPC. The representatives of these parties have praised the Liberal Alliance Party for convening the Congress and being politically active. The UPC representatives paid tribute to iconic politicians, including Ni John Fru Ndi and Ruben Unyombe.
