At least four dead in ghastly accident in Limbe

A ghastly car accident has claimed at least four lives and injured a number of people at Mile 2, Limbe, in the South West Region this Sunday morning.

Reports say a cement trailer lost its brakes and shattered a private car and a bike before crashing into a garbage collection truck near the Bocom filling station at Mile 2.

Videos from the scene showed at least two people lying seemingly lifeless on the roadside. A private Toyota Carina vehicle involved in the accident was twisted and rendered irreparable, while the waste collection truck suffered serious damages on the front side.

Among those who died are two workers of the garbage collection company HYSACAM, as well as a woman and a child.

The accident caused several minutes of traffic as gendarme officers struggled to clear the road and restore traffic.

The accident in Limbe comes barely a week after six people lost their lives in an accident on the Dschang Cliff in the West Region, an incident that was also attributed to brake failure.

A few days ago, another accident along the Baffousam-Yaounde road claimed the lives of former Cameroonian footballer Landry Nguémo and those travelling with him.

This is a developing story!
