While the floods that devastated Buea last Saturday left many victims, it also made some heroes.
Among them was Nana Terence, a resident of Buea Town who gained Minister Paul Atanga Nji’s recognition for risking the thundering waters to save five people.
Among those Terence rescued was a physically challenged man who was trapped in the house alongside two others, including a child.
Thanks to him, they escaped the devastating floods that killed two people and injured many others.
Terence said he also pulled two people who were stuck in mud.
His heroism earned him much admiration from the neighborhood.
During his visit to the flood site on Tuesday, March 21, Minister Paul Atanga Nji had a private time with him during which he congratulated and gave Terence some money for reducing the death toll.
At least one person is still missing after the floods and several people are homeless.
