Baba I “empties” as threats multiply ahead of back-to-school

In Baba I, Babessi Subdivision, Ngoketunjia Division in the North West Region of Cameroon, the population is fleeing.

Some parents and children have parked their bags to flee from the village before what they describe as the uncertain happens.

One of the fleeing villagers who spoke on condition of anonymity said the military are threatening civilians and children to go to school or face the consequences.

“The population of Baba I are leaving their village because of fear. They were threatened by the military. Soldiers warned that, civilians should not fail to send their children to school come September,” our source said.

Government is yet to react.
