Activities at the palace of the Paramount traditional ruler of the people of Bafaw, Meme division in the South West region of Cameroon are going on unperturbed Saturday April 10th 2021.

Curious journalists in Kumba by reaching the palace at 8:45 am Saturday upon getting news of the death of Senator Nfon Victor Mukete – Paramount ruler emeritus have been greeted with an atmosphere of calm and serenity.

A local journalist in Kumba speaking to Mimi Mefo Info says “… palace workers are carrying out their activities but none of them has accepted to comment on the information concerning the death of Senator Nfon Mukete. Nothing here in the palace suggests that the Paramount ruler has died”.

Our source quotes Mr. Esseme Moses; chairman of Kumba traditional council of saying: “HRH Nfon Victor E. Mukete is not dead. Even if that should be the case the traditional council is the lone credible institution to announce his death officially. He was not a minister that his demise should be announced by other people”

The chairman of the traditional council has asked journalists not to take pictures or videos in and around the palace. At the moment, just the chairman of the traditional council is in the palace while other councilors are in their homes.

In other parts of Kumba, people are going on with their usual Saturday activities though word of the death of Senator V E Mukete is on every lip.

Reporters have been camping around the palace in Kumba Town quarter waiting for when the Kumba traditional council will issue an official statement that will either affirm or reject news of the Senator’s death.

In the meantime, Senator Mbela Moki Charles this morning has expressed his condolences;” The Dean is no more. We lost senator Nfon V E Mukete. May His Soul Rest in Peace”.

Besides senator Mbela Moki Charles, several other media organs in Cameroon have confirmed the death of Nfon Mukete quoting that he died at Yaounde general hospital.

Cameroonians and the world are waiting to get further information from the Kumba traditional Palace.
