Armed men, reportedly Ambazonia fighters, killed a 15-year-old girl during an attempted abduction of her father.
The victim, identified as Nfi Louisa, lost her life on the evening of Friday, November 24, 2023, marking another grim chapter in the ongoing armed conflict in the North West and South West Regions of Cameroon.
According to reports, the tragedy occurred when suspected Ambazonia fighters invaded the residence of Nfi Louisa and her family with the intention of abducting her father.
One of the gunmen allegedly fired a shot, intending to intimidate Louisa, who was fervently pleading for her father’s safety.
Tragically, the bullet struck her, resulting in her death.
The incident took place as Ambazonia separatist fighters reportedly descended on Bamenda in significant numbers, escalating tensions in a region already grappling with a prolonged conflict.
The attempted abduction and subsequent killing of Nfi Louisa add to the grim toll of over 6,000 lives lost since the onset of the conflict in 2016.
Cameroon continues to grapple with the repercussions of the armed conflict.
The recent massacre of over 25 civilians in Egbekaw, Mamfe, remains etched in the nation’s memory as one of the bloodiest episodes during this protracted struggle.
As the community mourns the loss of Nfi Louisa, there has been no official statement from any Ambazonia separatist group regarding the tragic incident.
The death of Nfi Louisa is another reminder of the human cost of the ongoing conflict.
It underscores the urgent need for a peaceful resolution to bring an end to the suffering endured by the people of the North West and South West Regions of Cameroon.
