The city mayor of Bamenda, Paul Achombong has asked inhabitants of the city to remain calm and peace-loving while sympathizing with their brothers and sisters from the South West region.
In a press release issued recently, the city mayor, Paul Achombong has expressed his shock and consternation following the October 14 incident in Buea which resulted in the death of a primary pupil, Enondialle Carolaise and a gendarme officer, Mvogo Achille.
On the behalf of the population of the city of Bamenda, Mayor Paul Achombong has extended the condolences to the bereaved families and says while awaiting the appropriate time for arrangements to be made for a memorial service to be conducted, the people should keep praying for peace in the fatherland.
The call by the city mayor comes to add to several others made by local and religious authorities of the country.
The moderator of the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon, Rev. Fonki Samuel Forba as well as the Bishop of Buea Diocese, Mgr Micheal Bibi had earlier condemned the act while praying for peace to return to the country.
The Buea Diocese will on Thursday, October 21 organize a mass to pray for the repose of the baby girl.
