A student of the Higher Technical Teachers Training college HTTTC of University of Bamenda popularly call prof Joe, has been buried after he was gunned down. Reports say he was shot and killed by government forces in Bambili, North West region.

Government forces, sources say, opened fire on him infront of his hostel just below the University of Bamenda campus in Bambili last week. Other friends who were with him succeeded to run.

Hostel mates rushed him to the hospital, but he gave up the ghost along the way, sources add.

Prof Joe’s corpse has been taken to Ndop for burial.

It is not the first time government forces are opening fire on students especially in Tubah sub division.

Last year – 2020, three university students died after being allegedly shot by government soldiers. The soldiers are said to have mistaken them for amba fighters. In May 2021, a level 2 student of biology of the University of Bamenda was shot by same military. Fortunately, he was rushed to hospital by his room mates and the university authorities intervened and he was rescued from excessive bleeding.
