Bamenda Traders applaud City Mayor for financial concessions

There has been a wave of positive reactions in Bamenda following a decision taken by Bamenda city Council for traders not to pay their financial obligations to the council for a period of two months (April and May).

“We welcome the decision of the city mayor. Beside the pandemic, activities of ambas/military confrontation have had a great deal on our businesses”Neba Alfred, a business man at Bamenda food market told Mimi Mefo Info.

To another trader, the measure taken will accompany them to stand against coronavirus by respecting all the 13 measures put in place by the government to stop the spread of the pandemic.

City Mayor Paul Achombong says the gesture is to lighten the financial burden on the people given that the coronavirus pandemic has affected their businesses.

The city mayor called on Mayors of Bamenda 1, 2 and 3 to do same for traders in markets in their municipal to boost their economic activities.

As of this morning April 6th 2020, no coronavirus case has been recorded in the North West region. Despite this, authorities and the population have not relented efforts in fighting against the pandemic.
