A pro-Biafran separatist group operating in the Bakassi Peninsula has reportedly beheaded three Cameroonian gendarme officers in Isangele, in the Ndian Subdivision of the South West Region of Cameroon.

Members of the Black Marines, a separatist group fighting in the Bakassi region, reportedly killed and beheaded the gendarmes on Tuesday, according to the National Daily Newspaper in Nigeria.

Inside sources told the National Daily that four members of the Black Marines came on a speed boat at about 5 a.m. on Tuesday. Close to the shore, they abandoned the boats and dove into the water, from which they ambushed the Gendarme officers.

They shot one and beheaded two, according to local media reports. The Biafra Nations League confirmed the act on Tuesday but did not offer any further details.

The Cameroon Military has not made any statement concerning the reported attack.

The attack came after the BNL launched a suicide bomb attack that reportedly killed about seven BIR soldiers last Friday.

The BIR had declared the BNL operational coordinator, Henry Edet, wanted and reinforced its offensive against the militant group. Some months ago, the BNL had claimed that the same Henry Edet had been captured by the BIR.

A joint military force consisting of Cameroon and Nigerian soldiers attacked the BNL fighters on Thursday morning, wounding at least two Black Marine fighters, BNL said.

The Biafrans are reported to have detonated another explosion on a maritime border locality in Bakassi, which reportedly left some soldiers dead on Thursday morning.
