Reverend Miki Hans Abia is a distinguished clergyman of the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon (PCC) known for his gentle demeanour, fine temperament, and steadfast commitment to service.
Rising from a Parish Pastor to a Presbyterial Secretary and Synod Clerk, he now holds the topmost position in the PCC—the Moderator.
He was overwhelmingly voted during a synod elective meeting on Monday, November 18, 2024, in Buea.
He served the Church for 31 years during which he served five years as Synod Clerk under Rt Rev Fonki Samuel Forba, the outgoing Moderator.
Reverend Miki Hans Abia was born on November 13, 1966, in Tombel, South West Region, to the late Mr. Joseph Mejang Miki and Mrs. Elizabeth Meye Miki of Meta origin, North West Region, Reverend Abia.
His educational journey began at GSE Bubutombe.
He exhibited remarkable academic aptitude, which initially set him on a path to study geology and mining.
He achieved outstanding results in Nigeria’s challenging Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examination, but his life took a transformative turn when he received and embraced a divine call to ministry in 1993.
That same year, he gained admission into the Presbyterian Theological Seminary (PTS) Kumba, where he pursued his theological training with distinction.
Reverend Abia began his ministerial journey in 1997 after graduating from PTS, where he received authorisation to serve as an assistant pastor in Kembong, Mamfe Presbytery.
His dedication and exceptional leadership skills quickly emerged, resulting in his appointment as Presbyterial Treasurer for Mamfe Presbytery in 2000.
In 2003, he took on the role of Presbyterial Secretary for Fako South Presbytery, serving with integrity and competence.
He later took on the role of Presbyterial Secretary for East Mungo Presbytery, maintaining his record of faithful service and organisational excellence.
In November 2019, Reverend Abia achieved a significant milestone in his ministerial career by being elected the 10th Synod Clerk of the PCC, a role that carries immense responsibility within the Church.
Over the years, he has held numerous strategic positions in the PCC, leveraging his deep theological insights and administrative acumen to advance the mission of the PCC.
A lifelong learner, Rev Miki Hans Abia holds a Master’s degree in Theology with a specialization in Systematic Theology from PTS Kumba.
His scholarly achievements underscore his intellectual rigor and commitment to theological reflection, which he integrates into his pastoral and leadership work.
Reverend Abia and Mrs. Nyango Afo Vivian Miki share a marriage and take pride in being the parents of four children.
He embodies the values of honesty, humility, and consistency as a devoted family man—virtues that guide his personal and professional life.
Reverend Abia believes that practicing these virtues leads to success in life.
