Biya’s delegation leaves him behind after the China Summit

It is almost a week since Cameroon’s president Paul Biya left China after the China-Africa cooperation summit ended.

However, some members of his delegation are back in the country, but citizens do not know where he is.

The last public communication on his whereabouts was on Sunday, when it was announced by the Director of the Civil Cabinet at the presidency that the president had taken off from Beijing.

“H.E. Paul BIYA, accompanied by the First Lady, Madame Chantal BIYA, departed China in the morning of Sunday, September 8, 2024, after a remarkable participation at the 4th Summit of the Forum on Sino-African Cooperation (FOCAC),” said the Civil Cabinet.

As to where he headed after taking off, it remains confidential information.

According to the Civil Cabinet, President Biya left on September 2 accompanied by an official delegation that comprised: Joseph BETI ASSOMO, Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Defense; Lejeune MBELLA MBELLA, Minister of External Relations; Paul ATANGA NJI, Minister of Territorial Administration; Samuel MVONDO AYOLO, Minister, Director of the Civil Cabinet of the Presidency of the Republic; Emmanuel NGANOU DNJOUMESSI, Minister of Public Works; MENGOT Victor ARREY-NKONGHO, Minister Chargé de Mission at the Presidency of the Republic; Alamine OUSMANE MEY, Minister of Economy, Planning and Regional Development; Jean Ernest Massena NGALLE BIBEHE, Minister of Transport; Gabriel MBAIROBE, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development; FUH Calistus GENTRY, Interim Minister of Mines, Industries, and Technological Development; Rear Amiral Joseph FOUDA, Special Adviser to the President of the Republic; Martin MPANA, Ambassador of Cameroon to China; Simon Pierre BIKELE, Chief of State Protocol; Jean Christophe ELLA NGUEMA, General Manager of CAMAIR-CO; and Mr Christophe EKEN, Mines and Crafts, President of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry.

After the summit, some members of the delegation, including the Minister of Transport, Minister of the Economy, Planning and Regional Development, and Minister of External Relations, had long returned to their duty posts.

But the head of state is yet to return or even communicate his whereabouts.

However, going for meetings abroad and disappearing after that without immediately coming home is very common for President Paul Biya.

He did the same thing after the international Olympics that were held in Paris last August.
