Black Sunday as over 40 die in car accidents across Cameroon

There is mourning across three towns in Cameroon following a series of ghastly accidents.

Many woke up with the news of the death of dozens in Ndikiniméki, not far from the capital, Yaoundé, as a bus derailed from the highway.

After visiting the scene, authorities ascertained that some 37 persons were killed and 14 seriously injured.

Relatives of those on the bus have been called upon to go confirm the identities of their loved ones.

In Buea, the capital of the country’s South West region, a woman and her two kids were crushed to death by a speeding vehicle.

The driver who is said to have been drunk at the time of the accident escaped the scene but was later apprehended by the police and is currently under custody.

The bodies of the woman and her kids have been deposited at the Buea Regional Hospital mortuary.

Three more deaths were also recorded in the South Region.

The victims were a Commissioner of police and two other passengers in the vehicle he was driving.

The cause of the accident that saw them lose their lives is yet to be ascertained.

While many thought the situation could not get any worse, two died in yet another road accident, this time on the Melong-Nkongsamba highway in the Littoral region.
