Blandine Angwe Fon, a Cameroonian hailing from the North West Region, has just completed a groundbreaking challenge that is poised to rewrite the Guinness World Record books. The challenge in question? The Longest Edit-A-Thon, an arduous test of stamina and skill in the realm of video and graphic editing.
“I edited for 80 hours and above,” Blandine proudly declared, her passion for the craft evident in every word. “I am currently putting together my evidence to send to the Guinness World Record.”
As the dust settles from this extraordinary endeavour, it becomes apparent that Blandine is not merely making headlines; she is potentially etching her name into history as the pioneer of a new record. The Guinness Book of World Records currently lacks evidence of anyone having achieved such an impressive feat in the realm of video editing.
Notably, there exists a record for the longest edit-a-thon, a 72-hour marathon organized by Fundación Carlos Slim (Mexico) and Wikimedia. This event, held at Museo Soumaya in Mexico City from June 9 to 12, 2016, saw the participation of 102 individuals who collectively created 264 articles and edited 388, all centred around Mexican art.
Blandine embarked on her editing marathon on Monday, November 13th, at 12:50 p.m., a journey that would culminate in the early hours of Friday, November 17th, at 3:49 a.m. The clock would ultimately stop at an astonishing 87 hours and 20 seconds. However, meticulous in her pursuit of accuracy, Blandine accounted for breaks, totaling 11 intervals amounting to 3 hours, 29 minutes, and 25 seconds.
After deducting the break time, Blandine emerged with a net editing time of 83 hours, 22 minutes, and 55 seconds—a staggering accomplishment by any measure. Her relentless dedication and commitment to her craft make her not only a potential Guinness World Record holder but also the first Cameroonian to achieve such a feat in recent times.
As Blandine compiles the evidence required for submission to Guinness World Records, the global community eagerly awaits confirmation of her achievement. The Longest Edit-A-Thon has found its champion in Blandine Angwe Fon, a trailblazer who has redefined the boundaries of what is possible in the world of video editing.
