Residents of Boganjo, a village in the Tiko Subdivision have expressed discontent over the arrest of some youths by the Tiko Divisional Officer, Kawah Armstrong.
According to reports, the Divisional Officer of Tiko Subdivision recently ordered the arrest of some youths which he claims are Ambazonian fighters.
The young men, according to the assistant chairman of the Boganjo traditional council, Martin Njie, were arrested at a quarry that was created to keep the youths of the village busy.
“The Divisional Officer went there and arrested the boys who were trained by his predecessor, as a vigilante group in Boganjo,” said Martin Njie.
According to the residents, the arrested young men are those who took the responsibility for getting rid of the Ambazonian fighters from their village.
In addition to the unjust arrest, the residents equally decry attempts by the local authorities to dissolve their village.
In a prefectorial order signed in 2019, the Tiko Divisional Officer canceled the village, on the basis that the it is not officially recognized.
According to this resident, “Boganjo is an established village from time immemorial and there are documents there to establish the fact.”
The residents of Boganjo village continue crying out for the release of their children recently arrested under the instructions of Kawah Armstrong.
