Breaking!!! Abducted Cameroonian Senator Regains Freedom

Senator Regina Mundi, a Cameroonian lawmaker who was kidnapped by separatist fighters in Bamenda weeks ago has been freed.

The Ministry of Defense announced that she was released alongside another captive in an operation by the forces of law and order on the night of May 30th, 2022.

Mundi, Senator of the ruling Cameroon People’s Democratic, (CPDM) party was kidnapped alongside her driver by name Mamouda, on Saturday 30th April, 2022 in her vehicle.

Separatists vowed to released her after their leaders and brothers, detained in Yaounde have “been freed by the Biya regime.”

In a statement this morning, the Head of the Communications Division of the Ministry of Defense Colonel Cyrille Serge Atonfack said Senator Mundi’s release came after a “heavy military operation” that began May 29 and ended on Monday, May 30th, 2022 in Momo Division, restive North West Region of the country.

Atonfack also said the following was was “achieved” during the operation:

-Release of Senator Mundi and other hostages

-Tens of Separatist fighters killed, many others injured and others at large

-Three Separatists captured

-Arms and munitions seized

Explosive devices seized

Senator Mundi, an elite in the North West Region, has been accused of conniving with the Yaounde government to fight against the English-speaking population. A faction of the people have been clamouring for independence since 2016.
