University of Buea reschedules 2023 graduation to Dec. 19

The University of Buea’s 2023 convocation ceremony will no longer take place on December 16 as earlier programmed on the institution’s calendar of activities.

In a new release published today and signed by the Vice-Chancellor Prof Horace Ngomo Manga, the University slated the event for December 19 and 20.

Instead of one single ceremony on December 16, as early announced, the convocation will take now take place on two days.

The first day, Dec. 19, will see the convocation of students from the College of Technology, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Faculty of Laws and Political Science, and the Faculty of Science.

On the second day of convocation, Dec. 20, the following establishments will be convocated: Advanced School of Translation and Interpretation, Faculty of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine, Faculty of Arts, Faculty of Education and Faculty of Social and Management Sciences.

The University did not advance any reasons for the shift in the convocation program, which will mark the 25th graduation ceremony for the three-decade-old institution.

The ceremony will be coming one month after the University matriculated more than 10,000 new students, one of its highest intakes since 1993.

Last year’s convocation ceremony saw the graduation of close to 20,000 students from three batches.

This was because the ceremony had suffered a two-year suspension owing to the COVID-19 outbreak in 2020.
