Husband angry with wife for giving birth to twins

Tensions escalated in a Douala residence on December 4th in the Logbessou neighborhood, as a couple found themselves entangled in a heated argument following the unexpected birth of twins. The couple, who had anticipated the arrival of a single child based on ultrasound predictions, was reportedly taken by surprise when Emmanuela gave birth to twins.

Rogers, a bike rider in the city, and his wife, Emmanuela, lived a relatively normal life, facing financial struggles. Sources told MMI that the couple was also managing at least one meal per day and cherishing the happiness brought by their first child.

But Roger expressed anger and frustration after learning that the child they were expecting turned out to be a set of twins. “They already have a young child and were preparing for the arrival of a single baby based on prenatal ultrasounds conducted over the past five months,” said a source.

A neighbor, who opted for anonymity said, “I heard yelling and screaming from their house. Roger was outside, pacing back and forth, expressing feelings of being deceived and unprepared. He kept emphasizing that they only planned for one child.”

Details of the argument remain unclear, but witnesses observed that the wife, who is still recovering from childbirth, was visibly upset and distressed by her husband’s reaction. Sources close to the family also revealed ongoing financial struggles, raising concerns about providing for two additional children.

Medical experts confirmed the unexpected arrival of twins, although the reason for the discrepancy between ultrasounds and the actual birth remains unknown. Doctors are closely monitoring the health of both mothers and babies, given that Emmanuela faced challenges during childbirth.

Roger’s frustration is exacerbated by his profession as a motorbike rider, grappling with financial difficulties and earning barely 4000 FCFA a day. His wife, without employment, adds to the challenges of caring for their family.

Neighbors have been appealing to Roger to soften his stance, emphasizing that it is not his wife’s fault that twins arrived instead of a single child. Some have encouraged him to view the twins as a double blessing from God.

This incident has ignited discussions about the emotional and financial strains faced by families with unexpected twins, especially in resource-limited environments. It underscores the unpredictability of ultrasound scans, where discrepancies between expectations and reality persist, posing challenges for both parents and medical professionals.
