Chief Ewome Eko John, popularly known as Moja Moja of Bwassa village, was involved in a car accident on Monday evening in Buea, located in the South West Region of Cameroon.

The accident occurred near the roundabout close to the Governor’s office, a high-traffic zone in the regional capital.

Brake Failure Suspected Cause

Eyewitnesses say the chief’s vehicle lost its brakes while descending the hill leading to the roundabout.

“He has been rushed to the hospital but his car is still parked at the accident spot,” a witness told MMI.

The severity of Moja Moja’s injuries has not yet been disclosed, and no official statement has been made by authorities.

Heavy Military Presence at the Scene

Shortly after the crash, the area was reportedly cordoned off by military forces who restricted bystanders from filming or photographing the scene.

“Everywhere was flooded with military. Phones were not allowed in order to stop people from taking pictures,” the eyewitness added.

This tight security response has further fuelled public speculation, given Moja Moja’s controversial profile in the region.

Senator Arrives at the Scene

Senator Mbella Moki was reported to have visited the scene soon after the incident. It remains unclear whether he was there in an official capacity or to offer personal support.

Controversial Figure in the South West Region

Meanwhile, Chief Ewome, alias Moja Moja, has drawn widespread criticism and attention over the years. He is known for his involvement in anti-separatist activities and has frequently been accused of using excessive force against local youths under the pretext of fighting armed separatists.

As of now, no statement has been issued regarding his condition or the circumstances leading up to the accident.
