An explosive device has gone off in a car in the Checkpoint neighborhood in Molyko, Buea, South West Region of Cameroon. The incident took place at about 4 am local time, today.
A passenger, sources say, alighted from the taxi but left a parcel in the car which later blew up.
It remains uncertain whether any injuries were sustained by the car occupant (s). The driver however, MMI gathered, has been detained by the forces of law and order.
The Syndicate of taxi drivers of the town is said to be attempting to find out the exact reason for his arrest, given that he too just narrowly missed being killed.
No one has claimed responsibility for the act yet, but many are beginning to point accusing fingers at separatist fighters.
For some months now, the separatist fighters operating in the North West and South West Regions have resorted to using improvised explosive devices, as they wage war against the forces of law and order, and anyone they believe do not sympathize with their cause.
