Buea braces for busy weekend

The town of Buea in the South West region is expected to be a busy place for the next two days. This is because of tomorrow’s convocation ceremony at the University of Buea and the burial of late Mayor Ekema Patrick Saturday December 14, 2019.

On the University of Buea campus, students can be seen queuing up to collect graduation robes and cleaners keeping parts of the institution neat.

Originally meant to be on the same day as the burial, the decision of the University of Buea to move it’s graduation ceremony to Friday has met with a lot of criticism.

Others however say it is the least the institution could do to honor its former student who doubles as the former landlord of the town. He passed away a couple of weeks ago in Douala.

Ahead of late Mayor Ekema’s funeral, it has been revealed that territorial administration Minister Paul Atanga Nji is set to act as representative of President Paul Biya at the ceremony.

Prior to both ceremonies and the festive period as a whole, inhabitants of Buea have been complaining of the poor internet and network reception in several parts of the town. Though some service providers have apologized, many say nothing has changed much.
