A house thief cum convict, has been caught, after making his way into the room of a female resident in the Musah hostel in Street Three, Dirty South neighborhood, in Molyko-Buea.
He was apprehended early yesterday, November 21, 2021, by the hostel and quarter members, after the said lady from her bathroom, bumped into him, while he was ransacking her belongings, in search of money and valuables.
Head to Head talk with the victim, Festoline Ntube, revealed she had half-closed her door while easing herself, when “ I came and saw him, he immediately stopped searching my bags.”
She further said “ I held him out of my room, he claimed to be leaving in Moseo Complex, and has come to ask me where I was fetching my water.
The girl exclaims and said, “ People from your supposed hostel were fetching with us, how come you don’t know or ask them but me?”
Adding that after she raised alarm, the crowd inquired from his supposed hostel, if anyone recognized him, but no one said“ I know him”.
According to the Dirty South P. R. O, he confessed to having traced the victim from another hostel (Moseo Complex), when she set out to fetch water between the early hours of 6 to 7 am.
The guy whose only name we got as Elvis, is reportedly a convict after he was first caught in a guy’s room, in a nearby site (Maha Hostel), when the room owner sent his friend to charge a cell phone in his room, during a cite party.
The incident according to the group that took him to the Molyko police station, comes barely four days after he was rescued by the police from a group beating given to him by his cellmates.
A witness said, “ Am surprised he still had the gods to engage in such an act today, after he was was severely beaten in the station, just a few days ago.”
The P. R. O and Co also expressed dissatisfaction with the Cameroonian police force. Collectively they said “ We don’t understand how the police expose the population to the same threat over and over because this guy escaped from their watch”
While adding that“ This young lady might have been killed by someone who ought to be in prison”, the witnesses also noted that they are trusting the police with criminals caught, but the police are expressing negligence, endangering the locals.
The P. R. O furthers that the actions of the police can result in a situation of some locals taking laws into their hands ( jungle justice), because while he was caught, many people recognized him, and confirmed to be some of his victims, including a guy with claims of forfeiting his FCFA 250, to the same guy.
