Buea: Four ladies who molested Essou Marinette sentenced to six months, ordered to pay 3 MFCFA in damages

Some four girls who molested Essou Marinette, six months ago have been sentenced to six months in prison while the latter has received 3 million FCFA.

The sentence was passed at the Buea Court of First Instance on Thursday, December 22, 2022.

According to a report from Cameroon Tribune, the accused were found guilty of all 19 charges amongst which were theft, defamation, public indecency and others.

“The convicted are to pay a fine of FCFA 200,000 each. In default of the payment of FCFA 200,000 each, they will spend additional nine months in prison in consonant with the law,” Cameroun Tribune revealed, stressing that the accused, “have to pay the cost of proceedings stood at FCFA 113, 208 each.”

Essou Marinette was equally given the sum of 3 Million FCFA as compensation for the damages suffered.

The young girl was molested by the four convicts on June 8, 2022, over a young boy.

Essou Marinette was tricked, captured, shaved, beaten mercilessly, and paraded on the streets naked. The incident triggered general outrage across the country.
