Buea: Gunshots Wake Up Muea Population

Reports say gunshots were fired in the Muea locality in Buea, South West region of Cameroon.

It is believed to be an exchange between Cameroon’s security forces and Separatists. “It started at about 7 am, gradually subsided about an hour after,” said a source.

Many inhabitants of the locality, sources say are taking refuge at homes, as they fear the situation may escalate. “We are home, we cannot step and we have not been able to go out since morning,” a source narrated.

Separatists have since the final days to the AFCON, issued threats of disrupting the event in Limbe, Buea, a territory they call theirs.

The gunshots recorded today in the Fako division are believed to be an execution of the Separatists AFCON threat against the Limbe matches, where participants of pool F are expected to take on their first opponents later today.

The matches are Mali taking on Tunisia at 2pm Mauritania takes on The Gambia at 5pm.
