The Cameroon media family is still pained over the death of journalist Samuel Wazizi. The South West chapter of the Cameroon Journalists Trade Union, SNJC says it is organising a march to the governor’s office tomorrow morning.
“Members are called upon to gather tomorrow at 9am infront of the D.O’s Office, Buea for a peaceful March to the Governor’s Office” a statement from the communication desk of SNJC-SW reads.
“The President counts on the solidarity of all in this very painful situation” it adds. Some months back, members of the press had stormed the Buea high Court requesting that it orders the release of their colleague to no avail.
Wazizi’s death is one of more instances of the Cameroon government’s suppression of the freedom of the press.
