Buea: Soldiers kill two suspected separatist fighters, display bodies at Muea

Dead bodies of two young men killed by the Military were on display in the evening of Wednesday, March 15, at Slaughter House, Muea, a neighborhood in Buea.

They were dumped there about 5pm by soldiers who scribbled short notices that tagged them as separatist fighters.

One of the notices said they were among separatist fighters who attacked and killed six CDC workers last month.

But MMI cannot independently verify this. The soldiers were accompanied by notorious military officer John Ewome (Moja Moja), who is presently facing a law suit for torturing and abusing several civilians in Fako Division of the Southwest.

A message placed on one of the dead bodies named the young man as Sagat, a name used by a popular separatist commander who kidnapped two police officers in Buea recently.

Some residents of Muea who stopped at the scene wondered if the young men on display were actually separatist fighters.

This was because both military and separatist fighters have summarily executed civilians in the past based on unproven accusations.

One of the soldiers at the scene used his gun to threaten locals from coming close to the bodies.

“I have told you to leave this place, because when these boys were terrorising the place you people did not report them,” he could be heard shouting at dozens of people who struggled to have a look.

The bodies were being displayed two days after heavy gunfire in the Muea locality on Monday night injured some persons.

They passed the night by the roadside where they had been dumped and we’re only removed on Thursday morning.
