Residents of Bomaka, a neighborhood in Buea, Fako division of the South West region say they have been without electricity for three weeks and counting.
Complete power cuts have left them in darkness with no reaction from the electricity supply company, ENEO.
Locals say the transformer supplying the neighborhood was instead dismantled and taken away by the company.
University students living around the area say the blackout is negatively affecting their studies .
“My area has been without electricity for over 21 days now, causing tremendous inconveniences. It is causing a lot of hardship to residents,” Njang, a University of Buea student told MMI.
Njang Lamented that, “The blackouts has made things really difficult for me as a final year student who need to do research, type and submit it based on the time my supervisor has given. I could barely read given that most of my notes are in the laptop. This is really frustrating.”
Despite frustrations expressed by locals, the electricity supply company has not made a positive statement.
“We have been waiting patiently for power supply to be restored but have received no information or timelines on when that might happen. Authorities seem to have ignored our plight,” he added.
He went on to plead with authorities to “immediately resolve the issue and restore back power in the neighborhood.”
