Separatist fighters have burned down a car in Muea, a locality in Buea, South West Region.
They stormed the locality early today firing gunshots to scare residents. The move comes on the final day of a weeklong ghost town they imposed on the English speaking regions of Cameroon.
“They came to Muea today and fired gunshots before burning down a car” said a resident of the incident.
He added: “from tomorrow we will step out and try to ‘husstle’ before the week of October 1st”.
October 1st and the month as a whole it should be noted, remains a fragile period in the Anglophone regions.
The date marks the independence of British Southern Cameroons and is often marked by skirmishes between separatist fighters and government forces.
Separatists maintain the day as their independence day and try to hoist their flag in as many places as possible.
