Buea Trade Fair Workers Fear For Their Lives After Bomb Blast

The device that exploded at the Buea Trade Fair Center in Clerk’s Quarters is reported to have been thrown from over the fence.

A source amongst many, some of whom are workers at the center, told MMI that the device which was packaged in a litter container was dispatched into the main arena, from behind the building.

While reinstating that there were just minor injuries recorded and were rushed to the Buea Regional Hospital, the source stated that as of now, just three injured persons are yet to be discharged.

Another source, a ticket seller, said “ I was not at the center today because I had taken permission the previous day, December 11, 2021, due to health issues.”

Adding that her friend was at the scene, but fortunately sustained no injuries, but fell prey to explosive shock.

“My friend came earlier on the day of the incident, convincing me to go to work, but I didn’t feel like it,” the source told MMI.

While exempting herself from attending a meeting today at the center due to fear of the unknown, the worker said, “We ought to be having a meeting today at the center, but I don’t think it will take place, neither will I attend it, considering the circumstances”.

According to earlier reports, separatists have claimed responsibility for the December 12th, 2021 explosive attack at the Buea Trade Fair Center, which they say is aimed at halting the organization of events on ghost town days.
