By David Atangana

Members of the Rapid Intervention Battalion, BIR, an elite unit of the Cameroonian army have been captured on camera torturing a man ‘mercilessly’ infront of his wife and children.

The incident, reports say, recently happened in Djotin, a locality in Noni, subdivision, Bui division of the North West region.

Viral footage which MMI obtained shows the man with his hands tied in to back being beaten and kicked by men in uniform.

A voice is overheard in the video shouting “shake shake no dey’, a regular parlance used by armed separatists during attacks against the army.

The wife and the children are seen helpless in the video as their father is tortured and at mocked by the state forces.

It is not known wether the victim was tortured to death or not as further details have not emerged.

The army especially the BIR is known for many similar acts. They have tripled since the Anglophone crisis, with innocent civilians being their target.

Yet, authorities continue to turn a blind eye.
