The inhabitants of Bamenda can anticipate easier journeys in the near future as the C2D Urban Regional Capitals Project begins upgrading the city’s road network.

The Ministry of Urban Development reports that this project will modernize the entire network, which has badly degraded for the past years.

The C2D Urban Project started reconstruction in several areas, including the stretch from Veterinary Junction to Cow Street and Pako Vita, and to the City Council.

Also, the Upstation area, from the entrance of Avenir to the Prison and the Monument is under construction, while the New Road junction and Vicky Street are also seeing rehabilitation.

Workers could be pictured on Tuesday, August 19, clearing the area, leveling the ground, and installing new drainage pipes, covering 700 meters and 650 meters, respectively.

The rehabilitation work will include a range of improvements designed to enhance the longevity and functionality of the roads.

Elements of the project involve filling and drainage construction to effectively prevent water damage, stone pitching to strengthen the road surface and increase durability, and the construction of retaining walls to provide essential structural support and prevent erosion, as exemplified by the 40-meter wall being built near the Prison Junction, Bamenda I Market road.

The goal of the C2D Urban Project is to modernize Bamenda’s roads, reduce traffic congestion, and enhance the quality of life for residents.

Government officials have stated that this project represents an important step towards creating a more comfortable and efficient urban environment in Bamenda.
