Hon. Nourane Moluh Hassana of the Cameroon Party for National Reconciliation (PCRN) will on April 10 launch a call for funding as part of a project for vulnerable persons as the country battles with COVID-19.
The MP revealed on twitter that she has sought authorisation from the Minister of Territorial Administration , a demand in accordance with Minister Atanga Nji’s release yesterday.
Quoting Law No. 83/002 of 21 July 1983 governing appeals for public generosity and Decree No. 85/1131 of 14 August 1985 to lay down the conditions for authorisation of an appeal for public generosity, the Minister said any of such actions without permission is illegal.
Despite the decision, Maurice Kamto’s fundraising operation for Cameroonians to fight coronavirus is still ongoing.
The project has already raised over 260 million FCFA after just three days activity.
While Christian Penda Ekoka, chairman of the management committee assures donors that “everything is being done to achieve the objectives”, Prof Kamto is yet to make any statement on the minister’s declaration.
