The Cameroon Association of English Speaking Journalists, CAMASEJ, has called on abductors of Fung John Ngum, journalist of Ndefcam Radio in Bamenda, North West region to release him.
In a release signed Wednesday, January 20th, 2021, by Jude Viban, national president of CAMASEJ, he says “CAMASEJ finds this kidnap as another assault on the freedom of the press and the right of media professionals to practice without fear and favour, threats and molestation “.
Kidnapped by unidentified gunmen at the Ntarikon neighbourhood in Bamenda Wednesday, January 20th as he set out for work, CAMASEJ regrets that there are no traces to find the journalist.
“It is particularly worrisome that his abductors have not maintained any contact with his family or friends, thus fueling all forms of suspicion “.
Kidnapped in Bamenda North West region of Cameroon noted for an armed conflict since 2017, CAMASEJ considers the abduction as part of a symptomatic degeneration of moral values in Cameroon.
Jude Viban therefore called for the immediate release of Fung John Ngum.
Fung John Ngum is a co-presenter of the program Press and Associate on Ndefcam radio and worker at Bamenda regional hospital.
