Ndih Maureen has been elected president of the Douala Chapter of the Cameroon Association of English-speaking Journalists, CAMASEJ-D.

In an election Sunday, May 16, 2021 officiated by Barrister Jarvis Nnoko, the lone list headed by Maureen Ndi scored 99.9 % of the votes in what has been described as “…an overwhelming victory”.

In her acceptance speech, Ndih Maureen expressed gratitude for the confidence bestowed on her by media workers of English expression practicing in Douala, Littoral region of Cameroon.

“The success of my administration will depend on the cooperation and collaboration of all English-speaking journalists in Douala. We have taken the challenge to take the chapter a little further by improving professional practice of journalism and the well-being of media workers,” Maureen Ndih told the press.

Maureen insists that the health insurance of all members will be a priority of her administration with permanent professional capacity building seminars and workshops for members to take centre stage.

To the new executive, their first major action will be to tour all media organs in Douala to canvas for more members.

Besides Maureen Ndi as president, Njikang Gabriel alias Ambassador of Equinoxe television is the vice president, Dominic Meme Nwakimo of Sweet FM radio is the Secretary General while Gladys Ambo is the treasurer with other positions occupied by those Maureen Ndi has describes as “… competent journalists and media professionals.”

The new executive takes over from that led by Moki Charles Linonge for the past eight years.

Ndih Maureen, journalists working at Canal 2 international TV has over 15 years of audio visual journalism practice with keen interest in reporting issues on women.

Before being elected President of CAMASEJ Douala -Action Zone, Maureen served as Vice president in the outgoing executive.
