Cameroon Asks Macron To Ignore Ekanga’s Remarks On Biya’s Longevity In Power

By M.K

Cameroon’s Minister of Communication, René Emmanuel Sadi has called on French President Emmanuel Macron to ignore CRM’s Wilfred Ekanga’s comments on President Biya’s stay in power.

Video footage had circulated a few days ago on social media, showing the social activist squaring up to the French President as he walked past a crowd.

The CRM militant managed to get Macron’s attention, and then he accused him of supporting President Biya’s dictatorial leadership in Cameroon.

Ekanga told the French President that it was paradoxical that he supports the people of Ukraine in their attempt to challenge Putin’s grip, yet backs President Biya back in Cameroon.

Among a host of things the pair argued about, Macron told the militant that it was not in France’s position to arm opposition parties in Cameroon against the regime.

He also told Ekanga that it is the job of the African Union to work for a democratic transition in Cameroon and not France.

State authorities have now given an official reaction to this conversation between Macron and Wilfred Ekanga.

Communication Minister, René Emmanuel Sadi has asked the French President “…not to be distracted by citizens with bad notoriety.”
