Seven die in Batouri landslide, Eight others rescued

Seven persons have reportedly died following a landslide in a gold yard in Batouri, Kadey Division, East Region of Cameroon. Eight others were fortunate to have been rescued alive, MMI has gathered

According to sources, 5 persons were found dead in Belita while 2 others reportedly died in Nyabi.

The 7 persons consisted of three men two women and two children.

The Divisional Officer of the Kadey Division, Djadai Yakouba alongside forces of law and order visited the scene of the incident Friday, June 10, 2022, to assess the situation.

Apart from the 7 persons found dead at the scene, 8 other persons were found alive and rescued.

The bodies of the deceased were later handed over to the families for burial, while those who sustained injuries were taken to the integrated health center of Belita.
