The Cameroon Consumers’ Foundation (FOCACO) on Wednesday, January 4, 2023, embarked on a massive destruction of sachet Whisky products in the economic capital of Cameroon, Douala.
The move follows a joint release by the Minister of Public Health, Trade and Industry.
It was signed on September 14, 2022.
The release had highlighted that the sale of the said products were to be stopped in 2016.
Addressing the press, Alphonse Ayissi, President of FOCACO said, “We are faced with several deaths, many are weakened, many are in hospitals. That is why we proceeded to the destruction of this dangerous product which has been banned since 2014,” he said, emphasizing that, “These products are not good for consommation.”
The President and his delegation moved from store to store, sensitizing the citizens on the dangers of the sachet Whiskey, before proceeding to burn them.
