Several Cameroonians are outraged after authorities increased the price of fiscal stamps by 50%.
Fiscal stamps which are used in the authentication of official documents have increased from FCFA 1000 to FCFA 1500.
“We will soon see an increase in the prices of almost every goods and services. How are we going to cope?” lamented Nji Ernest, a social media user.
This comes at the time when Cameroonians are still to digest reports that cost of electricity will witness a increase in the months ahead.
On December 31st during his end of year speech, president Paul Biya described the country’s economy as stable.
But opposition leaders like Professor Maurice Kamto were quick to rubbish his claims, stating that “Cameroon’s economic growth has been catastrophic.”
