Cameroon Customs officers have intercepted a large consignment of weapons and dangerous substances at the Bogdibo checkpoint, along the Touboro axis in the country’s North Region.

The seizure was made on the evening of Wednesday, February 4, 2026, during a joint operation carried out by officers of the Touboro Commercial Brigade and the Bogdibo Customs Post.

According to official sources, the items were being transported on a motorcycle and were destined for neighboring Chad. The operation led to the confiscation of a significant cache of improvised weapons and suspicious materials, raising serious security concerns.

The seized items include:

– 1,760 arrows, including 40 suspected to be poisoned

– One box of Diazepam tablets

– Five axes

– Twenty stirrups

– Nineteen containers for poisoned arrows

– Fifteen knives

– Seven empty cases

– Two packages of substances believed to be toxic

Customs officials say the interception highlights the vigilance and professionalism of border security personnel in preventing the circulation of dangerous materials across national boundaries.

Security experts warn that such weapons and substances could have been used to carry out targeted attacks, criminal activities, or violent confrontations, posing a serious threat to public safety.

Authorities believe the operation may have helped avert a potential security crisis in the sub-region.

Cameroon Customs has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening border controls and protecting citizens from illicit trafficking and security threats.
