The Cameroon government promised to offer the sum of 17,500 FCFA (about 20 USD) to each Handball Lionesses for qualifying for the final of the African Cup of Nations.

On November 17, 2022, the Handball Lionesses beat Congo in the semi-final game, thereby qualifying for the final which was played with Angola on November 19, 2022.

The Indomitable Lionesses, however, failed to win the 25th edition of the Handball Africa Cup of Nations.

According to Boris Bertolt, “The government has promised a bonus of 350,000 FCFA to be distributed to 16 players from the Cameroon Handball team after a brilliant qualification for the final. Which is 21,875 FCFA per player. If we integrate the staff it will be 17,500 FCFA.”

He went ahead to disclose that the Congolese on their part received 3000 euros worth about 2 million CFA from their government, for the qualification for the semi-final.
