Health personnel of public hospitals in Cameroon are planning to organize strike activities against the government.

Passing through the National Union Of Mexico Sanitary Personnel of Cameroon (SYMPENS) and the National Union Of Staff Of Establishments/Companies in the Health Sector Of Cameroon(CAP/SANTE), they made their stand clear.

In a release signed August 3, 2022, they indicated that “health personnel of public hospitals will observe a work stoppage from August 16, 2022…”

According to these health personnel, they are set to engage in the strike for various reasons.

Amongst their reasons are: fixing the salaries of temporary workers at 75,000 fcfa (1-6 category), 95,000 fcfa (7-12 category), the care of sick health personnel and their nuclear family, and the increase in the salaries of health personnel, to mention a few.

They concluded by indicating that: “there will be no coffining and lifting of bodies in morgues on Thursdays and Fridays.”
