National and international pressure continue to mount — with many seeking answers following the brutal murder of Amplitude FM’s host, Martinez Zogo.

Today, journalists in Cameroon have announced a nationwide mobilization to pay tribute to their colleague.

“In solidarity with other associations and syndicates, let’s dress in black this Wednesday and pay homage to a fallen colleague,” wrote the Cameroon Association of English Speaking Journalists, CAMASEJ in Douala.

The decomposed body of Martinez Zogo was found five days after he was kidnapped on Tuesday January 17 as he returned home from work.

While the government has pledged to ensure his killers are invested and brought to book, journalists are not ready to give up on their slain colleague.

“The gruesome assassination of MARTINEZ ZOGO, a radio animator with Amplitude FM based in Yaounde is a wake-up call and an attack on the media. We at CAMASEJ Douala are hurting and in pain because once more a life is lost simply because they were doing their job,” CAMASEJ D added.

“Today it is MARTINEZ; who knows, tomorrow it might be you reading this text. As we go through these troubled times, let’s mobilise and use the microphones and pens we have. Let’s keep the pressure until those who kill and molest journalists are brought to book.”

Results of preliminary findings, revealed that Martinez Zogo was tortured, had broken fingers and was also electrocuted.

Zogo was kidnapped, while investigating the fraudulent dealings of Vision 4 Boss Amougou Belinga.
