The ‘On a Trop Supporté’ (OTS) Movement, an association fighting for the wellbeing of teachers in Cameroon, has announced a strike action for its members across the country over government’s failure to address teachers’ grievances.
The strike, announced in a release published on Monday, April 17, schedules the strike for Tuesday, April 18.
It is being coordinated by OTS alongside other associations, OTA and SECA.
Based on the release, teachers have “waited until this morning, April 17, 2023, in vain for the slightest gesture from the government,” they wrote in the statement.
The OTS added that, “Faced with the situation thus created, the OTA- OTS-SECA collective calls on all teachers in Cameroon from primary to secondary schools to strike tomorrow April 18, 2023, in accordance with the strike notice filed with the Prime Minister on March 30, 2023.”
Teachers have, therefore, been called to use their General Assembly and raise awareness and rally those who are reluctant to join the movement.
The strike action is the first the OTS Movement announced since the start of this year, after series of protest and class boycott last year.
